1950’s

IPM was established in Dublin in 1950 to develop exports of Irish seed and ware potatoes to the Mediterranean region after World War II.

1970’s

IPM began investing in breeding of new potato varieties in association with Oak Park Research Centre in Carlow, Ireland, one of the largest and most advanced potato breeding programmes in Europe.

IPM releases its first proprietary varieties: CARA,  RED CARA and AVONDALE.

1990’s

IPM established ‘IPM Perth Ltd’ in Scotland to manage seed production of IPM varieties for the UK market and exports.

A new group of successful new varieties are released including ROOSTER, BURREN and SLANEY. During this period IPM became a subsidiary of Donegal Investment Group plc based in Letterkenny, Ireland.

IPM established IPM Holland BV in The Netherlands to manage seed production of IPM and free varieties for export. In this period IPM continued to release successful varieties onto the market such as BANBA, NECTAR, GALACTICA and ELECTRA.

2010’s

IPM established IPM France to manage seed production of IPM varieties for the French market and exports and acquired A. J. Allan Ltd, a high quality seed potato company in Scotland to complement IPM’s production and marketing capabilities.

The company also established IPM Portugal to promote and develop sales of IPM varieties in the Portuguese market as well as investments in West Africa and India. Continuing its pattern of new varieties releases, IPM launches a new group of successful varieties like TORNADO, FANDANGO, MAVERICK, BELAMI, VANILLA, BUFFALO, SENSATION, BUSTER among others.

2020’s

IPM forms IPM Potato Group Kenya to produce and market seed potatoes in Kenya. A new exciting selection of new varieties are released for the fresh market: COMMANDO, SUPERNOVA, PARADOX including specific varieties for the “babies” sector: LEXIE and LEGACY as well as for the processing market: PROXIMA, FIDELITY and GERONIMO.
