Description:
Santiago produces lots of bright, smooth skinned attractive tubers, delivering a high yield of medium to large round/oval shaped tubers, with very few out-grades. The good skin finish and uniform shape mean the variety is very suitable for the washing sector. Good resistance to common scab and late blight (phytophthora).

Growing Advice:

• As Santiago produces high tuber numbers, extend inter-row seed spacings to deliver larger size in the crop
• Santiago is a late maturing variety, so avoid excessive application of N and K.A fertilisation programme as per maincrop varieties is recommended, but where earlier maturity is required, reduce rates accordingly
• Herbicide sensitivity – Metribuzin can be used pre-emergence only
